Stuttgart's opera was voted "Opera House of the Year" in the Opernwelt critics' survey in 2016. The acclaimed production of "Salome", which was musically directed by Roland Kuttig, also contributed to this. In the Opernwelt yearbook it says "Kirill Serebrennikov also caused a sensation in Stuttgart with his oppressive vivisection of the erotic-exotic eerie fluid from Strauss's «Salome»." Roland Kluttig was particularly convincing as a guest conductor and important for the musical success.
