On September 18, 2016, Roland Kluttig will conduct the new production of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Fidelio" at the Landestheater Coburg. The Landestheater opens its new season with the premiere. Guest director is Rudolf Frey. In an interview with the Coburger Tageblatt, Frey emphasized that the background is very important for understanding and that he and Roland Kluttig decided to play the 3rd Leonore Overture at the beginning instead of the Fidelio Overture. "We illustrated these 13 or 14 minutes of music with tableaux that show the initial situation and [...] explain the relationships between the characters." (Coburg daily newspaper, 9.9.16)
