"A little nicer than in Bayreuth":
Landestheater Coburg presents the 2016/2017 season
Between September and June, more than twenty new productions will be staged at the Landestheater Coburg. With the program for the new theater year, the Haus am Schlossplatz is committed to the classical repertoire, but is also dedicated to the maintenance of works from the 20th and 21st centuries. Century and the rediscovery of forgotten or seldom played pieces.
"Fidelio", "The Marriage of Figaro" and "The Cunning Little Vixen" ("a grandiose, very difficult piece", says General Music Director Roland Kluttig, who will conduct this new production), plus a rarely performed opera comedy by Erich Wolfgang Korngold and " Anything goes” by Cole Porter is just one part of the ambitious program for the 2016/2017 season. And with the new production of Richard Wagner's stage festival play "Parsifal", the Landestheater Coburg wants to build on the great success of the "Lohengrin" production from the 2013/2014 season. "We dare Parsifal [...], we'll make it a bit nicer than in Bayreuth," says artistic director Bodo Busse very ambitiously.
The 2016/2017 season also includes several world premieres and first performances, such as Roland Fister's "Alice in Wonderland", which premieres on March 18, 2017 in Coburg.
